What is forgiveness?
Forgiveness journey
Are you still harboring in your heart the wrong done to you?
Are you preserving the evidence of the wrong done to you?
When you remember the wrong done to you, do you still feel the pain?
Do you desire pain for the person who hurt you?
Do you wish the same wrong to the person who wrong you?
Do you desire revenge for what has been done to you?
Do you desire evil on the person who hurt you?
Are you still holding unto your right to be hurt?
If you answer yes to any of the questions above, in order to be forgiven by God, you need to hand over the wrong done to you completely to God for Him to heal your hurt.
Forgiveness does not mean you will completely forget what has been done to you rather, you choose not to repay the wrong by yourself but entrust it to God who alone will avenge the wrong on your behalf.
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord” Romans 12:19 (ESV)
Are you ready to forgive?
Say this prayer now: Father God, I am sorry for not trusting you to handle this situation (name situation) in my life, which have caused me pain and grief. Forgive me. I release (name of person alive or dead) to you. I release my right to take revenge on (name of person alive or dead) into Your hand. I choose to forgive (name of person alive or dead). I ask you to heal my pain, hurt and disappointment. I ask you to give me Your grace to totally forgive (name of person alive or dead). Heavenly Father, in exchange I receive Your forgiveness, mercy, healing, peace and joy. Thank you Jesus.
Please, send us testimony of your forgiveness journey.
Shalom!
